It is important to hold academics as the primary focus while attending Michigan State University.  Sigma Pi holds quiet hours throughout the week at the chapter house and weekly study hours at the library.  The chapter house also maintains a current class file of old tests, quizzes and notes.  Each brother must also maintain a minimum GPA in order to maintain active status in the house.  While selecting new members during RUSH, each perspective member's GPA comes into consideration as well. Sigma Pi was recognized at the 2003 Greek Gala Awards Banquet for most improved chapter GPA.  Zeta-Mu chapter moved from 23 out of 29 in Grades, to 10 out of 29 in one year just behind the MSU All Men's Average GPA.  There are many scholarship opportunities available through Sigma Pi Fraternity, International.  We invite you to take a look...

Applications will be accepted starting February 1st of each year, through May 15 only.

A new program being implemented during the next biennium will recognize its undergraduate members earning All-Sigma Pi Collegiate Honors.  The All-Sigma Pi Collegiate Honors will recognize those initiated members who maintain excellence in college academics while making positive contributions to their chapter, campus and community.  The selection process will measure an applicant's ability to balance the pursuit of a college degree with the development of his leadership skills, interactive extracurricular participation, and a sense of social responsibility. Candidates must be an initiated member in good standing, have status as a full-time student in his chapter's college, and maintain a grade point average of 3.25 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher.

Each year's recipients will receive a certificate of recognition during special ceremonies at summer programs of Convocation and Sigma Pi University, as well as being listed in the Fall Emerald magazine.  There will be no limits to how many students are honored with this award.

Nominations for scholarships and awards are accepted throughout the academic year.  Any brother of Sigma Pi can nominate himself for any scholarship for which he feels he is qualified, and an undergraduate or alumnus of Sigma Pi, a chapter, the chapter scholarship committee, or an alumni club can submit nominations of qualified people.

The size of awards is dependent upon the interest accumulated from the scholarship fund during the prior fiscal year (July 1 through June 30).  Scholarships can range in size from $250.00 to over $5,000.00.

Sigma Pi Fraternity, International's Educational Foundation Committee on Loans and Scholarships reviews applications, selecting the applicant best meeting the criteria for that award.  This committee will make its recommendations to the president of the Educational Foundation whose decision will be final.  There are many awards given out based on service/leadership and academics...
